I’m Carrie and I live in metro Detroit with my husband Daniel and our son Lucas.

I’ve been blogging for almost a decade and this space has changed just like I have. Each year I understand myself a little more and get closer to figuring out what I want in life.

This blog is a record of that process. It’s a space to share stories about the things I love.

These days a lot of it is Lucas and our family life. Becoming a mom has changed me in ways I never expected. I won’t say this is a ‘mom’ blog but being a mom is a big part of my identity.  Since Lucas was born I’ve gotten to see Danny in a new role and I love him more than ever. Striking a balance to be a good (great?) mom and wife isn’t easy but I’m working on it.

Not so long ago the blog’s focus was primarily on Detroit and the people, places and things that make it a great city. I’m a little busier than I used to be but sharing Detroit’s story is still a big part of this blog. Check out the Detroit tab for an overview of the city and links.

I’ve always been an avid reader and, surprisingly, I’m finding myself making books a priority in my life. Over the year I’ve noticed more and more book recommendation/review posts and the truth is I’ve found some really good reads. Consequently, I’ll say books is another blog signature.

I also love life. I’m beyond blessed and I don’t take a second for granted. I strive for self-improvement and what I call The Roosevelt Standard. I want to be the good in the world and find beauty in all things. I want to have a nice home that welcomes friends and family at all time to create happy memories.

I want others to have happy memories too, so you’ll see Daniel’s photography as we attempt to help others capture the love in their life.
