Keep your fingers crossed that it’s a clear night Friday because I plan to enjoy some star gazing. Danny and I are hitting the road this afternoon and I couldn’t be more excited.  We’ve been so busy lately I feel like I haven’t seen him in weeks!  This extended weekend will give us some much needed quality time.  I’m so excited about our trip that I am going off the grid: no Facebook, no Twitter, no Tumblr and no Blogger.  I’m seriously considering leaving my phone at home but I will need my music for the car ride.

We’ll be hitting all sides of the peninsula in three days.  We start out west towards Fennville for Salt of the Earth.  We went there on our honeymoon weekend and it was fantastic!  After an early dinner we’ll relax on Lake Michigan and spend the night in Grand Rapids.  Friday we’ll head north to Mackinaw City, eat way too much fudge, and hopefully recline under the clear night sky to enjoy the stars at the International Dark Sky Park.  Saturday we’ll check out Teri’s new cabin and visit with family before heading to little Bavaria (a.k.a Frankenmuth) for the best fried chicken in the state.
