It wasn’t the easiest challenge but I managed to go the weekend without social media. When I logged back on Facebook I saw a post on a PBS documentary airing tonight about Detroit activist, Grace Lee Boggs. I’m embarrassed to admit that although I recognized her name, I know nothing about her. I look forward to correcting my failure and will be watching the special that airs tonight, June 30, 2014 at 10 p.m. It will also be available online during the month of July.
“Grace Lee Boggs, 98, is a Chinese American philosopher, writer and activist in Detroit with a thick FBI file and a surprising vision of what an American revolution can be. Rooted in 75 years of the labor, civil rights and Black Power movements, she continually challenges a new generation to throw off old assumptions, think creatively and redefine revolution for our times.”
