Uncle John

My high school graduation
My Uncle John passed away last week.  He was a kind, thoughtful and loving person.  He was a bright spot at family events and we miss him.  In all my minimalist endeavors one item I’ve never considered parting with is my jewelry box. It was a gift from Uncle John and I’ve had it for so many years I can’t remember when he gave it to me.  I always considered it special but now it’s even more meaningful.
To honor John, my family suggests reaching out to a sibling and doing something special for them.  It could be a thoughtful gift, a fun activity or an over-due phone call.  No matter how much time we think we have with the people in our lives it’s never enough and more than any tangible object it’s the memories that are most valuable.
