In a mere month Cindel or Elias will join the world. To celebrate Sheila and I planned a work baby shower for Gina and Garrett. Since a baby girl will be named after The Ewok Adventure, a Star Wars baby shower was a no-brainer. The non-traditional theme made planning a bit tricky but I think things came together well. The gold stars and orbs were a pain to string and didn’t provide quite the look I was going for but they were a fun element. I love having something hanging from the ceiling at work parties.
The supplies were simple and most things were purchased at the dollar store: the black plates and gold wrapping paper for the “It’s a Jedi” sign (perfect when you don’t know the sex), the martini glass candy jars, and plain tablecloths. The table labels were easily printed off (I used Gill Sans Ulta Bold font). The Yoda Soda is really easy to make (NOTE: Unless you LOVE sugar don’t add any extra, it’s more than sweet enough without it).
I contemplated multiple brownie cake options but settled on a lunch box center. I baked the brownies around a rectangular glass pan and inserted the lunchbox once it cooled. It’s the perfect way to transport all the gold candies. Ewok treats are gummie bears. The lunchbox and Yoda bucket were from Party City. So was a lot of the candy. At 15 pieces for a dollar it’s a bargain. Finally, the Yoda sign was made by me and available here. The frame is another dollar store purchase.
