Bon Bon Bon

This weekend Danny and I discovered a new ‘favorite thing’:  Bon Bon Bon in Hamtramck. Yes, Hamtramck and not Detroit. However, the 2.089 sq miles that make up Hamtramck are located within the boundaries of Detroit; therefore, I’m going to say it counts.  Hamtramck will be explored more at a later date but today’s post is all about chocolate.  Some people can eat any and all chocolate but I’m not one of them.  I’m very selective with the chocolate I enjoy and this definitely met my standard.

Evidence: I’m still craving this Hot Mess. A mini chocolate cup piped with warmed ganache and eaten quickly to avoid… a hot mess.  When you go, you must try this. You also need to try the #30 Paczki (fried dough ganache, Polish redcurant gelee, paczki, sugar glaze). We picked up a total of 5 flavors and the Paczki was the hands-down winner.  If we don’t cave sooner, we will definitely go back to get some for Mr. B’s birthday treat.

As previously noted, people in Detroit are very friendly and it was no exception here.  Carrie and Stephanie are Bon chocolatiers and great at customer service.  They were a lot of fun and made what could have been an in-and-out transaction a great experience.

Here are some things to note when you visit the shop:

  1. There is a parking lot!
  2. They are currently only open to the public on Saturdays 10:00 a.m.- 9:00 p.m.
  3. There are 45 flavors that are rotated in-store but I’m pretty sure you can place special orders
  4. Each chocolate costs $3 (I’m cheap and I’m telling you it’s worth it!)
Bon appetit!
