I spent three days in Detroit and saw more than I have in ages. I decided one way to keep up on blogging will be to share highlights from the places I’ve been. Here are this week’s three favorites.
Avalon Cafe + Biscuit Bar // Avalon’s chocolate sea salt cookie is my absolute favorite and the best you’ll ever have. This biscuit is the best you will ever have. It is so savory it melts in your mouth and the apple butter is pièce de résistance. Between this and upcoming arrival of my NYC favorite – City Bakery – I expect to be spending a lot of time in New Center.
Vera Jane // Also in New Center, inside the Fisher Building, is Vera Jane. It’s a cute lifestyle shop but the best part is the ‘Coat Room’ where you’ll find gorgeous vintage clothing that is reasonably priced. The ticket items I saw were all under $100.
POP + OFFWORLD // This 1980s inspired arcade/pizzeria is awesome – especially because they sell their phenomenal custom pizza by the slice (get Napalm Breath – fresh garlic, cheez blend, Feta, yellow peppers, white onion, garlic aioli and fried garlic)! My cousin works downstairs at Checker and I’ll be seeing him more often because $3 is a lunch price I can afford.
