Happy Friday

katoi

It’s scary to say but photography is part of my job. I like taking pictures but it’s not my top form of self-expression. It IS Danny’s creative outlet and he’s really talented. As a fun couples activity we’ve decided to start a photography challenge. So here’s my first.

The Challenge – The Rule of Thirds.

The Picture –  Katoi. A Corktown restaurant (and James Beard finalist) that was a victim of arson this week. It’s very sad and disappointing but the response from the community has been inspiring. There’s been an outpouring of love and support to Katoi’s owners and staff. Multiple fundraisers have been held and restaurants are opening their doors for pop-up events. Detroit is a BIG city with small town vibes and what’s happening with Katoi represents the investment, opportunity, risk, congeniality, and support you find here. Since the restaurant is fairly new, we haven’t had a chance to check it out but we will definitely schedule a date night when it reopens.

P.S. On the other end of Detroit food news
