Dangerously Delicious Pies

Crain’s Detroit Business provided me with a list of new things to try this week in an article about Midtown.  Dangerously Delicious Pies stood out in the list for a few reasons.  One, I’ve never head of a restaurant dedicated to pie.  Two, I LOVE pie.  Three, the founder is currently competing on The Next Food Network Star.  Yesterday, I went with Steve and Gale to check it out at lunch.
DDP isn’t quite a restaurant.  It’s more a pop-up inside the Third Street Bar.*  The menu rotates but there are staple options – both savory and sweet.  I’m a sucker for sweet but I needed something solid for lunch.  For $6 I enjoyed an amazing slice of S.M.O.G. (steak, mushroom, onion and Gruyere).  My mouth waters at the thought of it.  Not the healthiest lunch but so delicious!  I definitely recommend it and will be going back.
*I was really impressed with how cute the bar was and since Danny and I will be going there next week I’m going to try a drink.
