Danny surprised me with brunch at Block for Mother’s Day and it was delicious. The restaurant has been around for a couple years but we are seriously behind on our Detroit eats so it was our first time there.
I’m not a huge brunch fan but the cheesy jalapeno grits are so good the next time we’re downtown on a Sunday I will go back if only for that. Danny ordered the Steaktastic and you’ll note the avocado in the picture below. For years Danny has complained about both grits and avocados in any form and yet here they both are – ordered by him no less.
I ought to title this post Block part 1 of 2 because on the wall they have a Happy Hour menu that looks incredible. $3 calamari!? Yes please! Word on the street is you can actually get a seat at the bar for Happy Hour too, which is even better. I told Danny we must waste no time checking this out because Block looks out onto Woodward Avenue and with the QLine up and running I’m sure those bar seats won’t last long.
In the meantime, if you’re looking for somewhere to eat in Midtown – check out Block.
