A New Direction

Destiny Is For Losers has always been inspired by the wise words of Blair Waldorf: “Destiny is for losers. It’s just a stupid excuse to wait for things to happen instead of making them happen.”  Thus far this blog’s focus has been the things I’ve done to forego future regret and keep a productive lifestyle.  However, as the cover photo suggests this is also a Detroit blog.  I don’t live in Detroit but I love it and spend a lot of time there (9:00-5:00 Monday – Friday, in fact). Although I haven’t done many Detroit posts this past year that is about to change.
I love reading blogs and learning about other places.  I’d love to read a blog about Detroit but I haven’t been able to find exactly what I’m looking for.  What am I looking for? A blog to learn about the Detroit art scene (local musicians, artist, comedians and stage performances) and activities.  I enjoy reading about what businesses are opening but I want to know how they run and who runs them.  I want to see more about people who live in the city, how they live and what they do (long-time residences and newcomers).  Finally, I want to learn  more about the people who work for the city even if they don’t live there (community developers, educators and public officials).
Growing up I admired Barbara Walters and wanted to be a journalist.  I don’t want to be a reporter but I intend to report on things in the city – find out where it’s at and where it’s going.  I’m doing it for me but I hope others will find it useful too.
This blog will remain a blog about self-improvement, personal growth and reflection but it’s time for Detroit to be part of that conversation too.
